Chaudefour Valley in the Summer

True, if you’re visiting France in the summer, the central Auvergne mountains are probably not the first place where you’ll think of going for hiking. Most people prefer to head towards the Pyrénées mountains, or the Alps. You’d be missing out! The Auvergne mountains are fascinating dead volcanoes. While they lack the aggressive look and height of the Alps, they are home to gorgeous flora in the spring and summer and absolutely amazing food. The Chaudefour valley’s natural reservation, for one, is a must see if you like hiking. Photos below were taken around the Roches Tullières & Sanadoire, then on the Route des Crêtes around the valley of Chaudefour.
